17-10-2008
I'm at loss of words to describe the experience, I must say, its been the best and Intense KU training I've ever had, I can only just wish for more in future. The training made me realize how distant second training via DVD is to Instructor led training, while it revealed to me the extent of practice I had to do to perfect the art, I was amazed at the ingenuity of McCarthy Sensei in developing the drills, never had I thought that they would be brutal and effective when learnt and applied to in a Self Defense scenario!! Much respects!
I had loads of information to take home from the Tegumi drills that we went through. Jan Sensei was kind enough to ask me what I wanted to learn, I didnt hesitate to start from the begining, going through the drills from DVD 1 which I had thought I had learnt but to my amazement, it was like learning them a new! We also went through Kaishu, Haishu waza, Kamae Waza and Keri Waza drills along with the solo re-enactment. It was too much information that I thought my head wouldn't take take. The Ukemi's literally humbled me, its something that I need to practice a lot!
Jan Sensei, I'm grateful for the time we spent together, apart from the training, your kind hospitality and friendly talk we had, its something I'll cherish all along. Thanks again for everthing.
Paschal Wafula
